Bunyan & Babe
Bunyan and Babe was Go For Launch Productions' first project with Exodus Film Group (Igor - 2008), the production company behind this LARGER THAN LIFE adventure. But it hasn't been their last!
Scheduled for release in 2016, this story follows the adventures of siblings Travis and Whitney as they enlist the help of Paul Bunyan, and his giant blue Ox Babe, to defeat the greedy land developer who is threatening their grandparent's home. Phil was hired to be the Production Designer and Art Director on this project with Go For Launch Productions functioning as the Art Department. Together with his team, Phil designed all of the assets and created all of the technical drawings (isometric character turns and location and prop breakdowns) and texture direction model sheets, necessary for the production studio to build the models.
Phil's challenge as Creative Director was to create the every day town in which most of our story takes place and the "magical" giant world into which Paul Bunyan and Babe have retreated, and yet still make them feel part of the same world. Taking inspiration from the iconic illustrations of Norman Rockwell, Phil and his team created two worlds, one a slice of classic middle America and the other, a broad, sweeping, majestic land befitting our giant heroes.
Sure to be an instant classic this tale is indeed TOO BIG for reality!
