The Hero of Color City
Go For Launch Productions' second project with Exodus Film Group, The Hero Of Color City, is a heart warming adventure about discovering your own strengths and the value of friendships. With colorful characters and sing along songs this fun tale is perfect for a younger audience.
Creating the fantasy world for this film was great fun and a challenge, as the imaginative team at Go For Launch Productions literally had to work with all of the colors in the crayon box and make them work together! As on the film Bunyan & Babe, Phil took on the dual rolls of Production Designer and Art Director with Go For Launch Productions taking on the functions of the Art Department.
In the early stages of the project Phil and his team worked closely with Director Frank Gladstone to define a final look for this film that was both colorful and fun for young audiences. Once the look was established the team designed all of the assets for the film and created the technical drawings (isometric character turns and location and prop breakdowns) and texture direction mappings, used by the modelers to bring the vision for the film to life in the shortest time possible. Go For Launch Productions worked closely with Toonz, the production house, reviewing the modeled and textured assets throughout the production to ensure that the vision for the film was maintained.
Logistically this film was also a challenge as all of the principal players worked remotely. With producers in California and Maine, the Director and Editor in California, the storyboard artist in Florida, Go For Launch Productions here in Glendale and Toonz in India, the team creating this film was literally spread across the globe!
In the story Yellow learns that she can do big things and likewise the small group of talented individuals, spread around the world, who made this film, proved that with today's technology a fully remote production is very doable!
